Swim Clubs in many muniplities are the center of community involvement. It is where children meet other children in the pool, at a team practice, and during team competition. Where long-standing friendships began between their parents. A place where the youth can engage in meaningful activities.
But running a swim club by volunteers is a difficult task. It is hard work and time-consuming. The most challenging part is except for the yearly limited membership charge is to pay ever-increasing expenses since there isn’t a dedicate dedicated source of funding to meet those expenses.
So were the problems that plagued and were inherent at the Aldan Swim Club. Thus enter Aldan Borough. Aldan Borough Council recognizing the value and the asset of having a Community Swim Club decided to purchase the club. My office assisted by providing a Pa. DCEDC grant.
